Trips & Excursions at King Richard III CollegeIn the secondary school at King Richard III College, academic studies are enriched by a range of short excursions and residential trips. Throughout the school year, there are many exciting opportunities for our students to participate in cultural, sporting and departmental field trips.

In 2010/11 the following residential trips were offered:

  • Years 7 & 8: Campus Cerdanya - a 5 day adventure in the beautiful Pyrenees with activities including horse-riding and white-water rafting.
  • Years 9 & 10: Granada - a 2 day cultural visit organised by the Spanish Department.
  • Years 12 & 13: Madrid - a 3 day cultural trip for our 6th form students including tickets for the hit show Les Miserables.
  • Years 7, 8 & 9: Valencia -  a 2 day visit run by the Science Department, including the chance to explore the fantastic Museo de las Ciencias.
  • Years 7-11: School Ski Trip. Our annual ski trip in February saw 30 students and 4 teachers heading off to El Tarter in Andorra for a week of fun in the snow. As well as skiing and snowboarding, students also went husky dog sledding, ice-skating and to Caldea (a wonderful spa).

Students can expect to go on a variety of day trips and focused field trips such as:

  • Geography field study to Mondrago beach
  • Art dept. visit to the galleries in Palma
  • Christmas markets and ice skating in Palma
  • Coca-cola factory
  • Recycling at Son Reus
  • Theatre trips
  • Youth conference
  • A study of historical features & buildings in Palma
  • End of year trip to the water park

We believe that our programme of trips and excursions provides the opportunity for our students to bring to life what they are studying in the classroom and to benefit socially by sharing these exciting experiences with their peers whilst working together.

KING RICHARD III COLLEGE PRIMARY SCHOOL EXCURSIONS

The principal aim of the King Richard III College Primary School excursions is to provide learning experiences in the real world that will enhance and extend what the children are learning in the classroom.

Each class participates in an excursion every term; and Year 5 and Year 6 attend a three-day residential activity orientated excursion in the summer term.

Pupils do not usually repeat an excursion as the programme is run as a two year repeated cycle.
