In Year 6, we have an interesting and informative year, packed with fun activities, in which we aim to prepare children for their transition to secondary school. Our bright and cheerful air-conditioned classroom has a view of the Mediterranean Sea, and is a very pleasant learning environment.

Our Key Stage 2 studies are based on the British National Curriculum. In Literacy, our learning includes discovering Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens in a fun way, enjoying a range of performance poetry, and learning how to write imaginatively in a variety of styles.

Mathematics is fun, as well as hard work, with a wide range of activities and games to aid our learning. In History, we learn about the Victorians as well as life during World War 2, using books, the internet, videos, or taking part in role play. Each year we have a special visitor who talks about his Second World War experiences! Science teaches us how to view the world around us with a new perspective, and includes fair test investigations and hands-on activities, whilst in Geography we explore natural disasters and learn why they happen.  We learn foreign languages such as German, French, Spanish and Catalan, and we become proficient on the computers in I.C.T.   In Art and Design & Technology, we do a range of fun painting or modelling activities which brings our studies to life. This could include making an air raid shelter, baking a loaf of bread, or making a model of a typical Second World War figure wearing a gas mask!

Our studies are enhanced by trips to Palma Cathedral, Palma Aquarium, La Reserva and the Planetarium, as well as an exhilarating 3 day residential to trip, where we have the opportunity to take part in activities such as: rock climbing, kayaking, trekking and archery.

You might be chosen as a House Captain, or get to organise a Teddy Bears' Picnic for the Reception children, take part in a theatre production, make an egg model for the Easter “Eggshibition”, organise the Easter Egg hunt or take part in the Science Fair!

By the end of Year 6, children are more than ready to cope with the challenges that lie ahead in Secondary School.
